NEVADA COUNTY SCAVENGER HUNT AND FISHIFICATION OF HIGHWAY 49 PROJECT
A MULTI COMPONENT PUBLIC ART COOPERATIVE PROJECT.
In coordination with the Wild and Scenic Film festival and SYRCL.
Project Beginning: February 2014
Project completion: JANUARY 31 2015
WHAT IT IS
The project has four components (Scroll down for each project's timeline and budget and funding requirements)
1: PAINTING THE EYESORE, TAGGED, COVERED THING AS YOU ENTER NEVADA COUNTY. with a project that unites the Nevada County community in creating a community work of art replacing a prominent eyesore along the major traffic corridor. (*** UPDATE: I have spoken to the land owner, while he was removing layers of tags, and he is amenable to the project. Since our conversation, the building has been tagged again many times since, (THESE ARE THE CURRENT TAGS). To do the entire building will probably take 3 years)
WHAT WE WILL DO: Remove existing tags and prepare building for painting or tileing.. If paint finish, paint building white with sprayer. Stencil "TESS" on the inserted section of building in different sizes, then offer the community an opportunity to paint an individual "Tess" on the structure creating a community wide, months long event in conjunction with the WSFF and SYRCL.to paint the structure. Provide paints, stencils and staffing when structure is open to be painted.
This is being discussed too and I am leaning this way....Another idea is to produce tiles, in the shape of "TESS', then distributed among the community, painted, glazed by the community then applied to building. This could involve the schools and community organizations and not participants do not have to be on the site. Installed by MAF. (We have a tile background)
2. ART ON BUILDINGS: along Highway 49 between Auburn and the bridges in the area. Using "TESS" place local participant's art on barns, out-buildings etc along the route. Possible scavenger hunt for fish sponsored by local restaurants....
3. POP UP FISH MARKET GALLERY featuring local artists and MAF affiliated artists. Opens January 1 and closes January 31. Broad Street space.

BURNINGMAN PROJECT...THE WINDSHIP
BRING THE WINDSHIP TO BURINGMAN 2015 (yep 2015)
The WINDSHIP is a steel kinetic interactive metal sculpture created by renown Fair Oaks artists, Phill and Will Evans. http://phillevans.com/kinetic-art/the-windship/
The Hawaii Version is video'd here http://www.artmusicjunction.org/whaleday2007-slide/index.html
WHAT IS THE WINDSHIP?
The Windship is a 4O feet long, steel kinetic sculpture that rotates slowly on a center axis about five feet off the ground. One end is a hammock, the other a keyboard stand. Up to 4 people can lay in the hammock, (the weight difference is counter balanced with hanging baskets of stones) and escape into the music supplied by the DJ or musician on the other end via headphones. The music played differs on the DJ or creator playing at the time. The Windship makes musical notes and sounds as well and has sails to create motion, but not much, utilizing the wind.
We will also bring to The Burn, The Breathwork Sound Bath, a sacred ceremony featuring gongs and other sacred instruments. https://www.facebook.com/guy.douglas.7?fref=ts. and intergrate that amazing experience into the Windship experience by building a dome like structure on the hammock end.
We will also bring several large geometric sculptures and other kinetic pieces made by our artists to surround The Windship........
Our theme camp will be interactive with many interactive community art projects in all different mediums, improvisational theater and musical instruments with musical guides as part of our camp.
Our funding will cover adding some fish art work, an LED lighting array and perhaps a fire element to The Windship creating a Burn specific installation. The funding will also include our group, transportation, (not cheap to take this thing anywhere) and supplies etc for our group.
We are also looking for committed people to join our group.
HOW THIS FUNDS:
WE WILL USE TESS, OUR TESSELLATION AS THE PLATFORM FOR OUR DONATION PROGRAM.
We will cut out 1,000 versions of Tess, out of wood. 18 inches long and wide. We then offer them for $ 15.00 a piece with 5 dollars covering costs and ten going towards funding.
Through the donor program, we will build an incredible dance floor and structure using the materials created by you. The funders..... all to be assembled at the Burn.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Buy a tess. Paint it with some kind of paint, . Finish it. BRING IT TO THE PLAYA. . Come to our camp with it. It will then be placed on the dance floor of our camp and surrounding the WINDSHIP.. And we will dance it off........And use them again. And Again.
sign up to DJ or play the WINDSHIP. (LIFETIME donor program with DJ spots?)..........
Any funds collected past expenses will be go towards buying a dome 50 foot dome for the Make A Fish Foundation camp and WINDSHIP and 50% donated to the BurningMan Foundation.
