THE MAKE A FISH FOUNDATION BRINGS THE ART EXPERIENCE TO FESTIVALS
We bring the opportunity to create art to people, all people, wherever people congregate.
We feel that too many people say “I have no artistic talent” only because they have never put a brush in their hands, so to speak. So we put the canvas, supply the paints and other materials. Clay, Dyes, fabrics, etc we provide a fun place to create unique works of art. with minor guidance, give them an opportunity to express themselves through creating art. Art that becomes part of a whole community/ co operative project.
One thing we are not: A strictly children's oriented organization. We feel that it is adults that haven't had the change to create since they were children and are the target participants to find “their inner artist”. We do not exclude children, in fact encourage them to participate, but we want adults to play too....
WHAT THE MAKE A FISH FOUNDATION CAN DO AT MUSIC FESTIVALS
WALL INSTALLATIONS
We supply a professionally prepared canvas wall installation, which features our tessellation overlay. (So people have something to go off of). We provide all paints, brushes, tools and all supplies.
We like to place these throughout the event in the music areas, preferably behind the sound board(s). We even feature black light painting for indoor late night creation opportunities.
We also like to place smaller wall installs in backstage hospitality areas so the performing artists have a way to relax and be creative in another medium before and after a performance.

We offer fish painting (rubbing paint on a real fish then transferring it to paper or cloth) on blank T-Shirts, prayer flags, totebags and all blank items as well as other items on sale in the Market. http://www.zandavisitor.com/newsarticle-975-Gyotaku__%22painting_with_fish%22_Prints_By_Bruce_Kioke_Art_Show_At_Oregon_Coast_Aquarium
THE FISH MARKET
In the "Fish Market we offer fish. Participating Artist's fish. T-shirts for people to color, postcards finished and color yourself. Coloring books. Postcards, and pendants. glass fish large and small.
We offer the ancient art of Gyotaku, or fish painting) on blank T-Shirts, prayer flags, totebags and all blank items (Some paid and some not) as well as other items on sale in the Market.http://tinyurl.com/88hsjnl
Gyotaku involves the application of paint directly onto a fish and transferring it onto rice paper by rubbing the fish by hand. In Japan, this was a way to record the size of a fish using traditional black ink. In the United States, gyotaku has evolved into an art form that includes color. Since each print is executed by hand, no rubbings are exactly alike, and each print evokes a different emotion. We offer classes in paper luminaries which are perfect festival lighting (and supply the BATTERY Operated tea lights for camp illumination)
Our instruction only events are not accompanied by the "Fish market"... Guerilla art events,
Our festival space is a combination art studio and retail store (the Fish Market) . Working out of a typical 10X10 space.
We also will offer classes in marbling techniques and clay making at every event.
At all events we also supply drums, (not to interfere with music on stage) and other instruments as well as juggling supplies, hula hoops, poi items so that people have the opportunity to create in as many ways as possible.
This part we do for Donation. All classes etc are done by donation and outside participating artists who offer classes are paid the full amount of the donation.
We feature a canvas wall, professionally prepared, for people to paint on. This wall, like all our wall installations, is overlaid with the Make A Fish Foundation’s custom designed tesselation.
We also feature clay, proper tools to work it, papers, beads, googly eyes, and other art materials for people to use to create personal works of art that they can take with them. Or leave to be sold in the market later and tracked so that what folks create moves on......Unbroken Chain.
All Ceramic works are fired off site
For some art, unfinished clay for example, the pieces that cannot be finished, fired at one festival, will be tracked with the makers name and finished/painted, glazed in the booth at a later date by someone else. That name will be matched to the original maker and then to the buyer. Unbroken Chain. And then posted to the website and tracked. Create a photo album of everyone's fish's migration.
